📜 Background

The Kaga Clan originated in the most secret unit within the Kagemoon Sect, the "Shadow Assassination Group." The group was an assassination and espionage force answering directly to each generation of sect leaders, carrying out the dirty missions that could not bear the light of day, and it rendered great service in securing the Kagemoon Sect's standing with the imperial house.

But more than two hundred years ago, the fifth sect leader, Tsukikage Kūzō, launched sweeping reforms. He revered open, honorable samurai duels, holding that "the way of the blade must be upright; a swordsman should fight face to face." To that end he resolutely ordered the Shadow Assassination Group disbanded, snapped its commander's sword in front of everyone in the square of Kagemoon Mountain City, and expelled more than a hundred of its members from the sect. This is what history calls "The Broken Blade Purge."

Carrying the shame and fury of betrayal, the expelled members withdrew to "Shadow Valley" in the west of the empire, where the sun never shines, and there they founded a house of their own — the Kaga Clan. They swore that one day they would prove their worth with fire and blade and reclaim their lost glory.

Unlike traditional samurai, they cast off the long sword that stood for the "orthodox path" entirely, and instead honed short blades, daggers, and every kind of assassination technique, creating a "Way of the Broken Blade" of their own. Its core belief: "The way of the blade does not lie in its length; even a broken blade can prove the Way. True killing intent needs no sheath and no ceremony — only a result."

Today the Kaga Clan hides in the mists and jungles of Shadow Valley, and has turned the valley into a vast fortress riddled with mechanisms and traps. Internally it runs on a "ninja school" system, in which members rise in standing by completing assassinations, sabotage, and intelligence missions. For centuries they have waged an endless war of espionage and assassination against the Kagemoon Sect; each knows the other's every move, and the hatred has long since entered their blood.

The current clan leader, Kaga Yasha, a supreme master of flame arts and assassination, has recently revived the "Path Reclamation" plan. He intends to break the Kagemoon Sect apart from within and seize the chance to take back the Kagemoon Sect's greatest treasure, the Shadow Painting Scroll — challenging the orthodoxy of the long sword with the way of the short blade, and proving to the world that the Kaga Clan is the true heir to the way of the blade.

📜 Secret Places Within the Clan

After long years entrenched in Shadow Valley, the Kaga Clan has come to possess several secret places unknown to outsiders.

The first is the "Lightless Punishment Hall." This hall, sunk deep underground, is the heart of where the Kaga Clan interrogates traitors and enemy spies. Its interior is dense with mechanisms and bristling with instruments of torture, and it never sees the sun. Rumor has it that the hall is linked to the defensive formation of all Shadow Valley, and that if necessary the entire structure will collapse into the earth, burying every intruder together with every secret. The Punishment Division that runs it strikes terror into everyone within the Kaga Clan.

The second is the "Flame Vein." This is a fissure of underground fire hidden deep in Shadow Valley, endlessly spewing searing flames and thick smoke. Legend says the clan's first leader discovered some strange essence of fire here and wove it into his arts, and from then on the Kaga Clan commanded the formidable flame-shadow sorcery. It is also the private training ground where the current clan leader, Kaga Yasha, practices supreme forbidden arts such as the "Three Fire-Shadow Escapes"; its perimeter is covered in intricate "flame-pattern" seals, and even the clan's elders cannot easily approach.

The third is the "Broken Blade Mound." This is the resting place of the Kaga Clan's members, facing the Kagemoon Sect's "Sword Tomb" from afar. Here, sheathless broken blades and daggers stand thrust into the hillside, like a silent army of ghosts. It is said that on every stormy night, countless flickering fires and the clash of steel appear in the sky above the Broken Blade Mound, as if restless heroic spirits were still drilling for their endless revenge in the valley.

Kaga martial arts center on "assassination arts" and "flame-shadow sorcery," supported by uncanny inner methods and lightness footwork. All training serves the purpose of "killing the enemy," with the emphasis on being soundless, formless, and traceless.

🗡️ Broken Blade Art (Broken_blade)

This is the Kaga Clan's core blade art, designed to make the most of a short weapon's advantages. It casts off every rule of the long sword; its techniques are vicious and venomous, aimed specifically at the body's weak points — the joints, the throat, the heart meridian — seeking to kill in a single strike. Compared with the Kagemoon Sect's iaijutsu, the Kaga short-blade art is more uncanny and often catches the enemy by surprise.

A unique system of sorcery by which the Kaga Clan fuses "flame" with "shadow," falling into the categories of spell attacks and disruption. Practitioners use their own true qi as the catalyst, forming hand seals, chanting incantations, or using talismans to summon flames, illusions, and barriers. Unlike the sorcery of other sects in the jianghu, flame-shadow sorcery leans toward practical assassination — not grand displays of power, but instant lethality.

• 🔹 Fire-Shadow Escape (Flame_shadow): It is not true disappearance, but a spell that instantly bursts out in blinding light and a smokescreen. In the moment the opponent's vision is disrupted, the user moves or slips away with phantom-like footwork, launching an unexpected ambush.

This is the Kaga Clan's unique inner method for mastering the violent power of flame, letting them wield fire without being consumed by it.

• 🔹 Twin Flame Breath (Dual_flame): A special method of circulating qi that lets the user switch freely between two states, "Blaze" and "Still." In the "Blaze" state, attack power rises sharply; in the "Still" state, flame inner force can be completely concealed, undetectable from outside.
